Manali, Keylong, Pang and now Leh

We are in Leh (Ladakh) now. Beautiful place that almost washed away in a terrible flood some weeks ago. Very hard to find an internet cafe that still works... But nice to be here. We saw and did beautiful things already. Met the Dalai Lama in Jispa (near Keylong) where he did a teaching and yesterday spent the nigth at... ...5000 meters height in a tent near Pang. Very exceptional and we're really enjoying everything!

Yes we made it to Leh, part of the road (from Pang, where we spent the night in a tent), about halfway we had to take a deviation so we could't do the highest pass of 5600 meters height. But still a beautiful road. And we really met the Dal...ai Lama, we were about 15 meters away from him. We were so lucky and what a charisma this man has! We couldn't understand a word of what he said but still it was heartbreaking! And Leh is a beautiful place too. Not many signs left of the floods (only near the river, where the whole road has disappeared and houses were washed away, hundreds of peole were killed here, very sad..). But people are picking up their lives very well. Everywhere you see generators to deliver power and people are doing their trades just a before. We saw the Leh Palace today (same design as Potala in Lhasa but rather destroyed). Tomorrow we're going to rent a motorbike and do a daytrip along 3 very interesting monasteries here in the neighbourhood (Thiksey is one of them).
